Import Sales

Bring sales income from a spreadsheet or another system into PiggyZen without entering each transaction individually.

Import Sales creates income entries, not PiggyZen quotations or invoices. Importing is unavailable in the Free edition.

Prepare the CSV

Use Show File Requirements on the import screen and download its sample file. Keep these nine columns in this order, including columns whose values are optional:

Date,Account Name,Description,COGS,Amount,Sales Tax,Customer,Currency,Invoice

• Date: use YYYY-MM-DD. Account Name must match an account already set up in PiggyZen.
• COGS: enter the goods cost, or 0 when none applies. Amount includes sales tax.
• Sales Tax: use configured tax abbreviations. For multiple taxes, separate them with commas and enclose the field in double quotes.
• Customer: use the customer’s account number, not their name. If no matching customer is found, the importer creates a customer record for that account number. Check references carefully to avoid unwanted records.
• Currency: leave blank for base currency, or use a configured foreign-currency code. The importer uses the exchange rate stored for that currency.
• Invoice: an optional link to an external invoice.

Use a dot as the decimal separator and double quotes around text containing commas. The maximum file size is 0.5 MB; split larger files. If using locations, select the appropriate location for the import.

Review the result before retrying

After importing, check the number of successful records and the reported errors. Some records may have been saved even if others failed. Correct and retry only the unsuccessful records: importing the entire file again can duplicate the successful sales.

PiggyZen also blocks filenames that have already been imported. If a corrected file needs a new name, first remove the records that succeeded. Renaming a file does not prevent duplicate transactions.

Do not include sales already recorded through PiggyZen invoices, Record Income or an earlier import.
